Rajiv Herath Meewakkala

Rajiv Herath Meewakkala has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and industries. Rajiv began their career in 1998 as a Brand Manager at Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC, where they worked until 2000. Rajiv then moved on to become a Group Brand Manager at the same company from 2000 to 2002.

After this, Rajiv joined British American Tobacco Cambodia as the Head of Brand Marketing from 2002 to 2004. Rajiv then returned to Ceylon Tobacco Company PLC and held various roles such as Head of Brands from 2004 to 2006, National Sales Manager from 2006 to 2007, and Marketing Director from 2007 to 2015.

In 2015, Rajiv took on the role of CEO at Lanka Sathosa, the Sri Lanka Government's largest retail chain, where they had complete operational responsibility until 2017.

From 2016 to 2019, Rajiv worked as a Consultant at Interbrand and later served as the Chairman of the State Development and Construction Corporation in Sri Lanka from 2017 to 2019.

In 2018, Rajiv joined HDFC Bank of Sri Lanka as the Chairman, a position they held until 2019.

Since 2017, Rajiv has been associated with Ceylon Beverage Holdings and Lion Brewery (Ceylon) PLC. Rajiv started as a Non-Executive Director at both companies from 2017 to 2020. Later, they became the Chief Executive Officer - Designate/Executive Director at both companies from 2020 to present. In July 2021, they took on the additional role of Chief Executive Officer/Executive Director at Ceylon Beverage Holdings and Lion Brewery (Ceylon) PLC.

Rajiv Herath Meewakkala earned a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing from the CIM | The Chartered Institute of Marketing, completing the program from 1991 to 1993. Afterwards, from 1994 to 1996, they pursued an MSc in International Marketing from Strathclyde Business School. Later, they enrolled at Chaminade University of Honolulu, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Privatization Management from 2006 to 2012.
