Mechanical Design Engineering at LiquidCool Solutions

Steven Shafer has a diverse work experience in mechanical design engineering. Steven started their career at Cray Research in 1986, where they worked as a mechanical designer/drafter, creating designs for electronics and subsystems for supercomputers. Steven then joined Silicon Graphics in 1996 as a senior mechanical designer, creating CAD models for new product ideas.

In 2003, Shafer became a system integrator for United Defense, where they worked on the NLOS-C turret structure and armament sub-system. Steven also presented a mounting concept to reduce required mounting space. Steven then worked at Lockheed Martin as a mechanical designer/drafter, where they designed shock-resistant computer mounts and assisted in production release of drawing documentation for military projects.

From 2005 to 2006, Shafer worked at BAE Systems as a lead system integrator for the Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS-C) 155mm howitzer cannon, coordinating project reviews between internal BAE groups and external architectural groups. Following that, they worked at Hutchinson Technology, Inc. as a mechanical designer in automated engineering, responsible for designing machinery and fixtures for clean room environments.

Shafer then transitioned to the computer cooling industry, starting at Hardcore Computer, Inc. in 2010 as a mechanical design engineer, designing high-performance computer systems using liquid submersion cooling technology. In 2012, they joined LiquidCool Solutions, Inc. in the same role, working on liquid cooling technology patents.

Before their career in engineering, Shafer worked as an internet auction seller at Antique Auction Sales from 2001 to 2003.
