Stacy Burns-Guydish

Stacy Burns-Guydish has a diverse range of work experience in the biotechnology field. Stacy began their career as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University School of Medicine in 1999, where they worked on developing bioluminescence imaging techniques to monitor infection and disease in mice.

After completing their fellowship, they continued their research at Stanford as a Research Scientist until 2007. During this time, they focused on studying age-related susceptibility to infection and the relationship to treatments for hyperbilirubinemia. Stacy utilized bioluminescence imaging tools and techniques to study the immune response in mice.

In 2007, Stacy joined Cobalt Technologies as the Director of Microbiology. Stacy led the strain development group and served as project manager for joint development programs with companies in Asia and Brazil. Stacy played a key role in developing strains capable of producing biobutanol from biomass residues, achieving significant cost advantages. Stacy also led the improvement of strain performance through high throughput screening and selection assays. Additionally, they co-authored over 10 patent applications and contributed to Cobalt's intellectual property.

Since 2016, Stacy has been working at List Biological Laboratories, Inc. Stacy began as the Director of Microbiology and later became the Senior Director of Production. In 2018, they were promoted to Vice President of Biotherapeutics Development and Manufacturing. Currently, they hold the position of President at the company.

Throughout their career, Stacy has demonstrated expertise in anaerobe physiology, growth, and manipulation of butanol-producing Clostridium species. Stacy has also established and managed successful research and development teams, set up laboratories, and collaborated with multiple researchers in the field.

Stacy Burns-Guydish completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology at the University of Iowa from 1988 to 1992. Stacy then pursued further studies at Baylor College of Medicine where they obtained their PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from 1993 to 1999.
