Courtney Zaato

Courtney works with the national service team to coordinate AmeriCorps VISTA placements. She has spent the last eight years working in education and social services. Courtney first discovered her love for literacy in college while teaching French to elementary school students. Throughout her career, she’s found that no matter the language, ability, or age, education is a powerful instrument for unlocking peoples’ talents and potential. She has served two terms of service, spending a summer teaching literacy to fifth graders in Washington, DC, then a year working at a transitional living shelter in Spokane, WA. As a former service corps member, Courtney is excited to foster meaningful and formative experiences for AmeriCorps members in Minnesota. Courtney received a BA in English and International Service with a French minor from Valparaiso University, IN. When she isn’t at Literacy Minnesota, Courtney enjoys bicycling, yoga, and sharing tea with friends.
