Charles Mason, MD. is a native of Stuttgart, Arkansas. He attended undergraduate studies at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and completed Medical School in 1986 at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Little Rock. He continued his Emergency Medicine residency at UAMS and graduated in 1989. Dr. Mason is accredited with many accomplishments and affiliations over his extended tenure in Emergency Medicine. In 1989, he founded Medical Emergency Trauma Associates (META), a group of all board certified Emergency Medicine Physicians providing coverage for several Emergency Departments in the Central Arkansas area. He has remained an active member of META as a board certified Emergency Medicine Physician himself and continues to provide care for thousands of patients each year.
In October of 1989, he became the Medical Director for Metropolitan Emergency Medical Services (MEMS) and began serving on the Little Rock Ambulance Authority Board. Since that time he became the Medical Director for the Little Rock Fire Department (LRFD), The North Little Rock Fire Department (NLRFD), as well as the Maumelle Fire Department (MFD) and assisted them in training their employees and establishing EMS operating protocols for pre-hospital care. He has served as the first and only Arkansas Trauma Communications Center (ATCC) Medical Director since 2010, which enables the coordination and flow of critical trauma patients from one facility to the next based on their level of severity and need. Dr. Mason also serves as a member of the Arkansas State Emergency Medical Services (EMS) core medical directors, establishing pre-hospital standards of care and protocols for EMS providers/facilities for the State of Arkansas. In 2013, he was honored to be invited to become a member of the EAGLES, an International group of leading/recognized EMS Medical Directors that are involved in establishing pre-hospital care standards worldwide.
He resides in the Little Rock, Arkansas area. He enjoys being involved in the community and many outdoor activities including hunting and golfing. He obtained his private pilot’s license in 2011 to facilitate his business travels, however he also enjoys traveling for leisure and seeing the world when he is free from the many obligations and duties within the realm of EMS.
