Courtney Spencer

Courtney Spencer is the current Chief Administrative Officer at Live Oak Bank. Prior to this, they served as VP - HR Business Partner + Compensation Manager at Square 1 Bank from August 2010 to November 2015. In this role, they were responsible for strategically partnering with lines of business to proactively identify and assess human asset management needs and ensure employees grew as individual contributors and as a collective organization. Courtney also deliberately planned for and nurtured development and succession across the organization.

Before their time at Square 1 Bank, Courtney spent 17 years at Wachovia Bank in various roles, including Internal Reporting and Performance Measurement and Management Information and Reporting. In these positions, they were responsible for providing thought leadership and implementation support of human capital policies, designing and implementing competitive benefit plans, administering the payroll process, and managing the equity plan, among other things.

Courtney has dedicated their career to human resources and has a wealth of experience in talent management, compensation strategy, benefits administration, and more. Courtney is a trusted advisor and an expert in their field, and they have proven time and time again that they are dedicated to their work and to their team.

Courtney Spencer has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Management Information Systems from William & Mary and a Bachelor's degree in Health Policy and Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
