David Zhao

Co-Founder & CTO at LiveKit

David Zhao is currently the Co-Founder & CTO at LiveKit. Prior to this, they were the Director of Engineering at Medium from July 2019 to March 2021. Before that, they were a Senior Venture Partner at Pioneer Fund from June 2017 to June 2021, where they focused on investing in and supporting startups, particularly those in fintech, consumer, crypto, and machine learning. From January 2013 to July 2019, David was the Co-Founder & CEO of Evie Labs, which was acquired by Medium. From December 2010 to January 2013, they were the Director of Engineering at Motorola Mobility, where they successfully integrated Zecter technologies into Motorola products (MotoCast), shipped on millions of devices. Prior to that, David was the Co-founder and CEO of Zecter from October 2007 to December 2010. David founded the company with the vision to change how consumers access personal media across devices. The company was behind ZumoDrive and ZumoCast, and was acquired by Motorola Mobility in Dec 2010. David's previous positions also include Senior Software Engineer at Amazon.com from July 2004 to March 2007 and Software Engineer at All Star Directories from March 2004 to July 2004.

David Zhao attended [Y Combinator for their BS in Computer Engineering. David then went on to the University of Washington for their schooling.

They are on a team with and Brian Blumenfeld - Business Operations. Their manager is Russ d'Sa, Founder.
