Katharina Unger

CEO and Founder at LIVIN farms

Katharina Unger has been working in the design industry since 2010. In that year, they completed an internship at Native Design Ltd in London, where they were involved in the entire design process. From 2011 to 2012, they worked as a freelance designer for Polka Products and as an industrial design intern for Michael Young Ltd. In 2011, they also began their Master's studies at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, where they served as Class President. In 2013, they completed a Fulbright Scholarship at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, USA.

In 2013, Katharina also began their career as a public speaker, and in 2014, they founded and owned LIVIN Studio, a think tank and R&D and design agency for future food systems. In 2015, they became the CEO and Founder of L I V I N farms, a company with offices in Hong Kong and Vienna that develops innovative technologies for alternative insect protein production. In 2019, Katharina became a Visiting Lecturer at FH Joanneum and a Member of the Board at AustrianStartups.

Katharina Unger holds a Masters Degree in Industrial Design from Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien, which they obtained in 2013. Prior to that, they were a Fulbright Scholar in Design for Social Impact from 2013-2014.
