John Furey, LMSW, CCS, CAADC has extensive work experience in the field of counseling and therapy. John began their career in 1982 as a Therapist at Marian Manor Medical Center, where they worked until 1984. During this time, they also served as an Outpatient Chemical Dependency Therapist, conducting intake assessments and providing individual, group, and family therapy.

From 1984 to 1989, Furey worked as an Inpatient Therapist at Huron Oaks Adolescent. Following this, they joined Saint Joseph Mercy Health System as an Adolescent Chemical Dependency Therapist, a role they held until 2003.

From 1984 to 2003, Furey also worked at Greenbrook Recovery Center, initially as a Therapist and then as an Outpatient Therapist. In these roles, they provided therapy to individuals with substance abuse issues.

In 2003, Furey began working at Brighton Hospital, where they held various positions. John started as an Adult Inpatient Chemical Dependency Therapist, providing therapy and coordinating care for patients. John later became a Counseling Supervisor, overseeing the counseling department, and eventually became a Clinical Supervisor, responsible for the clinical and operational supervision of inpatient rehab and PHP therapy programs. John also participated in administrative department head and clinical leadership teams and played a role in program development and implementation. Furey remained at Brighton Hospital until 2018 when they joined Livingston County Catholic Charities as the Clinical Director.

Throughout their career, Furey has demonstrated expertise in counseling, therapy, and clinical supervision, with a focus on chemical dependency.

John Furey, LMSW, CCS, CAADC has a strong educational background in social work and addiction studies. John earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Addiction Prevention and Treatment from Mercy College of Detroit in 1982 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Addiction Studies from the University of Detroit Mercy in the same year. Following this, they pursued further education and obtained a Master's degree in Social Work from Eastern Michigan University from 1993 to 1997. Additionally, during their time at Eastern Michigan University, they also completed a Master's degree in Social Work with a focus on Mental Health & Chemical Dependency.
