Amie Vanhorn-Gabel

EL Content Area/program Leader, K-12 at Livonia Public Schools

Amie VanHorn-Gabel has been a dedicated educator at Livonia Public Schools since January 1998, currently serving as the EL Content Area/Program Leader for K-12, where responsibilities include mentoring EL teachers, designing professional learning, and leading curriculum development. Additionally, Amie instructs Newcomer multilingual students in English Language and has experience as a Global Education English and Social Studies Teacher. Previous roles include serving as an Instructional Coach at Eastern Michigan University, where collaboration focused on integrating persuasive writing into K-12 curriculums, and providing customized English lessons to adult professionals at PALS International. Amie holds a Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and a Graduate Certificate in ESL Endorsement from Eastern Michigan University, along with a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Eastern Michigan University.
