Chris W. has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Chris started their career in 2000 with a role in database administration for the UK Government. In 2002, they joined University College London as a PhD student and also worked as an undergraduate lab demonstrator in the Chemistry Department.

After completing their education, Chris joined Waterstones as a bookseller in 2006 before transitioning to the science and research field. Chris worked as a Senior Synthetic Contract Chemist at SRG (Pfizer, Sandwich) from 2007 to 2009, and then joined GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) as a Senior Medicinal Chemist in drug discovery.

In 2010, they moved into the academic sector and joined EPSRC as a Portfolio Manager. Chris later became the Senior Manager for Infrastructure & the Environment in the Living With Environmental Change (LWEC) Programme, and later a Senior Manager for Mathematical Sciences.

Chris then joined King's College London in 2016 as the Research Development Manager for Natural and Mathematical Sciences, and later became the Head of Analytical Platforms (Core Facilities). Currently, they are with Lloyd's Register Foundation as the Senior Programme Manager. Additionally, they will assume the role of Head of Programme Delivery from January 2023.

Chris W. obtained a PhD in Synthetic Organic/Biological Chemistry from UCL from 2002 to 2006. Prior to that, from 1998 to 2002, Chris W. completed an MSci (Hons) in Medicinal Chemistry also at UCL. Chris W. has also obtained a certification as a Fellow RSA from The RSA (The royal society for arts, manufactures and commerce) in 2021.
