Kjell Anderson

Director, Sustainable Design at LMN Architects

Kjell Anderson is the Director of Sustainable Design at LMN Architects. Kjell is also an author and guest lecturer, specializing in design energy simulation for architects.

Anderson's career began at the University of Washington, where they served as a guest lecturer for Arch 533: Advanced Environmental Systems. Kjell then went on to author Design Energy Simulation for Architects, a software-agnostic book that shows how to reduce the energy use of all buildings using simulation for shading, daylighting, airflow, and energy modeling.

Anderson's work has been instrumental in helping architects make more sustainable design decisions. Their 30 case studies of net-zero buildings, as well as of projects with less lofty goals, have demonstrated how energy simulation can be used to make early design decisions. Their chapters and case studies are written so that readers can learn general concepts without being tied to particular software.

Kjell Anderson's educational career includes a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Washington State University, a Sustainable Building Advisor certificate from Seattle Central College, and a Bachelor of Science in Music with a focus in Computers Science from Gonzaga University. Kjell is currently pursuing a degree in engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology.

They work with Adam Hunter - DAM Project Manager, Teena Videriksen - Principal & Director, Business Development, and Steve Delfraino - Principal. Kjell Anderson reports to John Nesholm, Founding Partner.
