Tannya Benavides

Tannya Benavides, M.S.Ed., currently serves as the Texas Chapter Manager at Local Progress and Local Progress Impact Lab since June 2023. Previously, Tannya held the position of Advocacy Director at Commission Shift from April 2022 to June 2023 and worked as a South Texas Organizer for the same organizations from June 2022 to February 2023. Tannya's experience also includes roles at Leadership for Educational Equity, where Tannya progressed from Associate, Special Programs to Director of Organizing Strategy and Director of Program & Organizing. Additional positions include Community Organizer at No Border Wall Coalition, Ignite Change Fellow at EMILY's List, and various teaching roles at Public Preparatory Network and Uncommon Schools. Tannya's educational background includes a Master of Science in Education from Johns Hopkins University School of Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Texas State University.
