Kurt Sonntag

Advisor at Loch Technologies

Kurt Sonntag is the current Advisor at Loch Technologies. Kurt has a long and distinguished history of leadership in the US Army, most recently serving as the Commanding General (Executive Director) at the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center & School from May 2017 to August 2019. In this role, they were responsible for providing senior leadership to a civilian and military support staff of more than 2,900 who train and educate US Army Civil Affairs, Psychological Operations and Special Forces soldiers. Kurt also oversaw the annual budget of nearly $200 million and construction budget of $390 million supporting seven different locations.

Partnering with the National Defense University, the Naval Post Graduate School, the Joint Special Operations University and North Carolina colleges for graduate-level master degree programs, Kurt was instrumental in helping students and faculty maintain knowledge, skills and attributes to remain competitive in today’s world. Kurt also determined new training methodologies focused on students’ understanding of how to self- assess, self-develop, train and adapt with virtual and augmented reality technology.

In addition to their work with students, Kurt also directed activities and established policies to achieve US Army staffing requirements in providing 96 instruction programs to more than 26,000 students. Kurt led force modernization and development for the US Army Special Operations Command enterprise consisting of more than 33,000 personnel and six major commands, located in 26 states and two other countries. Kurt Sonntag has a Bachelor of Science from the United States Military Academy at West Point, a Masters of Arts in Military Kurt'story from Louisiana State University, and a Masters of Arts in National Security Strategy from the U.S. Naval War College.
