Lodestar Studios
Lodestar Studios is an online portfolio showcasing collaborative video projects by director and multi-disciplinary artist Robert Waldeck. Over the years, Waldeck has collaborated on several projects working with other talented individuals. Through his collaborations with Paul Eichhorn, Waldeck co-directed two award-winning documentaries, A Growing Season and Aakideh: The Art and Legacy of Carl Beam. They distributed the documentaries through their production company, W.E. Productions, formed in 2003. Both documentaries were shown around the world, including screenings at several film festivals and high profile venues such as the TIFF Bell Lightbox, Smithsonian Museum, and National Gallery of Canada. In 2007, Waldeck co-founded DryWal Media with Dan Drysdale. The two combined their creative efforts to produce experimental videos, music videos and a music documentary Better Day: The Sarah J Felker Story. It aired on Out TV in March 2014. DryWal also produced a second documentary with Mark Tonin, Jamland. Together, Waldeck and Tonin co-directed Jamland and continue their collaboration with an on-going spin-off project, Jamland TV. Waldeck applies a painterly, explorative approach in producing video work. Whether it is a documentary, music video or an installation video, he uses elements of chance and experimentation to enter into any video-based project. Today Waldeck continues to collaborate with other filmmakers, musicians and artists on new projects. His current collaborative work engages in non-linear storytelling and the interaction between reality and the imagination.
