David Baldwin

Head Of Special Collections at London Metropolitan University

David Baldwin currently serves as the Head of Special Collections at London Metropolitan University, a position held since April 2023. Prior to this role, Baldwin worked at London Metropolitan Archives from March 2010 to March 2023, where responsibilities included serving as Archivist for Digital Services and Project Manager for the Unlocking our Sound Heritage initiative, which successfully preserved nearly half a million sound recordings and established a network of audio preservation centers across the UK. Baldwin's career also includes positions as Archivist at Transport for London and Alfred Dunhill. Baldwin holds a Diploma in Archives and Records Management from the University of Dundee and a Master of Arts with Honours in Ancient History from the University of Nottingham. Early education was completed at Arnold School, Blackpool, with A-Level qualifications in History, Classics, and Spanish.
