Joanne Hay is Deputy Chief Operating Officer (DCOO) at the LSE. She has worked at the LSE since 1995 in a number of roles including leading the Director’s office, and Manager (Strategic Planning and Resources) of the Department of Management. She took up the role of DCOO in summer 2018.
Joanne undertook an MSc in Comparative Politics at LSE during 1994-5, following a BSc in Economics and Politics at Swansea University.
Whilst working in the Director’s office, Joanne supported the establishment of the Department of Management which she then joined as Departmental Manager in 2006. In that role, she was responsible for the overall administration across the department, including strategic planning and resources, development of new programmes and courses, expanding and developing the professional services teams, and input into governance. In her capacity as DCOO, Joanne is involved in business change projects including the Assessments Services Change Project, and a number of areas around the School such as fire safety, business continuity, health and safety, Business Improvement Unit, and Professional Services staff development. Joanne is passionate about building high performing teams, and the development of PSS, as well as supporting the student experience.
