Mike Sullivan

Secretary at Lone Star College System

Mike Sullivan is a proud product of Lone Star College-Kingwood, where he received his Associate of Arts degree at the age of 54. He then went on to the University of Houston-Downtown, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science degree, with a minor in International Politics, at the age of 57.

Sullivan previously served on Humble Independent School District Board of Trustees, Houston City Council, and as Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector. Elected to the Lone Star College System Board of Trustees in 2018, he currently chairs the college’s Finance and Audit, and Redistricting committees.

Sullivan has a long history of community service. He is a director or advisory director of HCA Houston Healthcare, The 100 Club of Houston, Camp Allen, Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership, Texas Automobile Dealers Association, and Georgia Automobile Dealers Association. He is also an Advisor to the Houston Police Officers Union.

Believing in the importance of higher education, Sullivan is Chair of University of Houston’s Technology Leadership and Innovation Management Advisory Board, and University of Houston-Victoria College of Business Advisory Board. He also serves as Chairman of the Harris County Appraisal District Board of Directors.Kim and Mike Sullivan were married in 1983. Their daughter, Paige, graduated from Baylor University in 2015.

After 35+ years as a successful small-business owner, Sullivan is now Director of Governmental Affairs and Corporate Partnerships for Group 1 Automotive (NYSE: GPI), an international Fortune 500 company headquartered in Houston.
