Joan Cortada Garcia

Joan Cortada Garcia is an Associate Principal Scientist in Microbial Upstream Development at Lonza since August 2022, where responsibilities include leading innovative projects to enhance microbial pharmaceutical bioprocesses. Prior to this role, Joan completed a PhD at The University of Edinburgh focused on an online metabolomics platform for real-time bioreactor analysis. Experience includes a fermentation scientist placement at Ingenza Ltd during the PhD, as well as roles as a Fermentation Research Assistant and contributions to genetic engineering efforts. Academic background includes a Master’s degree in Biotechnology from TU Delft and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of St Andrews and Biotechnology from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
