Mike Maraya has a strong background in cybersecurity, with extensive work experience in various government agencies and private companies. Mike is currently working as the Chief Information Security Officer at X, the moonshot factory. Prior to this, they worked at Google as a Senior Program Manager, Security from March 2018 to July 2022. Before joining Google, Mike served as the Chief Information Security Officer at the U.S. Department of Commerce, where they led a cybersecurity office supporting a federal agency responsible for promoting job creation and economic growth. Mike was recognized for their contributions with the Commerce Gold Medal. Mike also held the position of Deputy Chief Information Security Officer at the U.S. Department of Energy, where they led a cybersecurity program focused on safeguarding the nation's nuclear weapons and energy infrastructure. Mike has a strong background in program management and has received awards for their work in IT project management and cybersecurity assessments. Mike began their career at BAE Systems as a Principal Software Engineer and later worked at UNICEF as a Network Administrator and Database Developer. Mike Maraya completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Ateneo de Manila University from 1992 to 1996. In 2000, they obtained the Sun Certified Java Programmer certification from Sun Microsystems. Mike earned the Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute in 2009. In 2012, Mike became a Certified Information Systems Security Professional through (ISC)². Mike obtained the Information Technology Infrastructure Library 2011 Foundation certification from APMG International in 2013. Additionally, Mike obtained the Federal Acquisition Certification for Program and Project Managers (FAC-P/ PM) from the U.S. Department of Commerce in November 2013. In 2017, they completed a Nanodegree in Deep Learning Foundation from Udacity.
