Samuel J.P.M. Atkins

Samuel J.P.M. Atkins has a diverse work experience in various industries. Samuel J.P.M. is currently serving as the Co-Founder of Formula Finance LLC, where they focus on developing high-performance intraday trading strategies using advanced data analysis and machine learning techniques.

Prior to this, they worked as a Software Engineer at Lorica Cybersecurity, where they led the development of software libraries for privacy-preserving techniques in large-scale machine learning applications.

Samuel also gained valuable experience at RBC Capital Markets, first as an AI Scientist - Algorithmic Trading/Finance during an internship, where they implemented and tested a novel portfolio optimization method. Later, they held the role of Manager in Machine Learning Validation & Research, responsible for validating financial models and researching innovative financial modeling techniques.

During their time at the University of Toronto, Samuel worked as a Graduate Student Researcher and focused on conducting research. Samuel J.P.M. also worked as a Firmware Engineer for the University of Toronto Blue Sky Solar Racing team.

Additionally, Samuel has held various co-op and intern positions as a Software Developer at companies such as Hyperview, Tuangru, and Millson Technologies.

Samuel began their academic journey as a student at Vancouver College before pursuing higher education and research opportunities.

Samuel J.P.M. Atkins completed their Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Engineering Science Robotics from the University of Toronto, a four-year program spanning from 2016 to 2020. Samuel J.P.M. then pursued further education at the same institution and obtained a Master of Applied Science (MASc) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, which they completed from 2020 to 2022.
