Dax Contreras

Systems Engineering Team Leader at Los Alamos National Laboratory

Dax Contreras has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Starting in 2007, Dax interned at the Office of U.S Senator Pete V. Domenici. This was followed by an internship at the Office of Lieutenant Governor John Sanchez in 2012. In 2011, Dax worked as a Risk Management Intern at the New Mexico Association of Counties.

Starting in 2005, Dax served as a Commissioner at the Town of Mesilla Planning & Zoning Historical Appropriateness Commission until 2013. In 2014, Dax worked as a Data Scientist at a non-profit organization before assuming the role of Executive Director at Jobs for All NM from 2014 to 2015.

From 2015 to 2020, Dax worked as a Senior System Operator at Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM). In 2015, Dax also briefly served as the Digital Director at Goal Advocacy.

In 2020, Dax joined Strategic Management Solutions, LLC (SMSI) as a Systems Engineer and transitioned to the role of Systems Engineering Team Lead at Los Alamos National Laboratory in 2021.

Dax Contreras has a diverse education history. Dax obtained a Graduate Certificate in Systems and Product Development from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2023-2024. Prior to this, they earned a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering with a Systems Engineering Concentration from New Mexico State University from 2017 to 2019. At the same university, Dax also completed a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) degree, with a focus on Marketing, Finance, and Electrical Engineering.

In addition to their academic accomplishments, Dax Contreras obtained certification as a Reliability Coordinator from the North American Electric Reliability Corporation in June 2016.
