Melissa Bitting

Melissa Bitting currently serves as Chief IP Counsel and Associate General Counsel for Environment and Regulatory at Los Alamos National Laboratory, a position held since March 2024. Prior experience includes a role as Senior Assistant General Counsel at Elanco from October 2021 to March 2024, where Melissa provided strategic legal support on complex business issues, including Intellectual Property and Data Privacy. Additionally, Melissa held the position of Senior Director of IP & Legal at Straumann Group, focusing on IP rights procurement in the software and digital tech sector. Prior to that, experience at ABB as Assistant General Counsel & Senior Manager of IP involved developing strategic processes for IP asset procurement and enforcement in various business units. Earlier roles also include Senior Corporate Counsel for Intellectual Property at Ingersoll Rand, overseeing comprehensive IP management, and Associate General Counsel at PPC Broadband, addressing commercial and IP matters. Educational qualifications include a BS in Engineering from The Ohio State University and a JD from Penn State Dickinson Law.
