Dr. Mary Gallagher earned her bachelor of science degree in Business Administration from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona with a major in marketing and an emphasis in ethnic studies; her master’s degree is in Business Administration from Pepperdine University with an emphasis in international business; and her Ph.D. is in Education from Claremont Graduate University with an emphasis in community college administration. Her dissertation topic was a study of “The Relationship Between Strategic Planning and Assessing Student Learning Outcomes in California Community Colleges,” which included an excerpt published in the peer-reviewed Journal of Applied Research in Community Colleges. Mary has worked in higher education for several decades as a fulltime instructor and department chair, financial aid and admissions, college business operations, and now college president. She has worked in all types of post-secondary institutions ranging from proprietary vocational education to graduate programs. Mary also has been consulting with colleges for over a decade, with expertise in planning and accreditation. Mary has served on 12 accreditation teams, four of those as assistant to the chair, and two as the chair.

LACC offers one year of free enrollment to all full-time students graduating from LAUSD high schools and charter schools. They also offer music majors tuition-free attendance, private lessons, and financial aid thanks to a gift from The Herb Alpert Foundation.
