Lila Higgins is an experienced professional in the field of community science and environmental education, currently serving as Co-Director and Founder of the City Nature Challenge since its inception in 2016, alongside Alison Young from the California Academy of Sciences. Lila also holds the position of Senior Manager for Community Science at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, overseeing a team and managing a $400K budget. Previous roles at the museum include Manager of Citizen Science and Live Animals, Special Projects Assistant in Education, and Discovery Center Administrator. Additional experience includes work as an Artist with Project 51, Assistant Director at the Mary Vagle Nature Center, and various educational roles at the Mass Audubon Society and Riverside Metropolitan Museum. Lila possesses a Master’s degree in Environmental Education from California State University-San Bernardino and a Bachelor’s degree in Entomology from the University of California, Riverside.
