Kelly Louise Anderson is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in immigration law and public defense. Currently serving as a Deputy Public Defender at the Los Angeles County Public Defender since September 2024, Kelly previously held the position of Program Manager for the National Qualified Representative Program at the Acacia Center for Justice, focusing on training and technical assistance for qualified representatives. Prior roles include managing a team at the Esperanza Immigrant Rights Project, representing individuals in deportation proceedings, and providing direct legal aid at the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project and Prisoners' Legal Services of New York. Kelly’s academic background includes a Doctor of Law degree from Seattle University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Welfare from the University of Washington.

Los Angeles County Public Defender
The Public Defender provides constitutionally mandated legal representation to indigent criminal defendants and juveniles in the Superior Court of the County as well as in State and federal appellate courts. The Department strives to defend the liberties of indigent clients, protect their rights, and advocate for clients’ access to resources in order to be productive members of the community. The Los Angeles County Public Defender has 36 office locations throughout the county. Integral to supporting the department’s mission is a team of more than 1,100 employees — including more than 700 attorneys, as well as paralegals, investigators, psychiatric social workers, and administrative/support staff.
