Tonica Robinson, DBH, LL.M. has an extensive work history in various roles within the mental health and public service sectors. Starting in 2001, they served as an AmeriCorps*VISTA Marketing and Development Coordinator for the Corporation for National and Community Service. Tonica then worked as a Membership Extension Program Coordinator for the Girl Scouts of Orange County.
In 2003, Tonica took on multiple roles simultaneously, including Writer for Black Voice News, Public Information Officer for the City of Las Vegas, and Executive Consultant for Esvin Health. Tonica'stenure with Black Voice News lasted until 2008, while they continued their role as Public Information Officer until 2007.
Later, Tonica transitioned to the field of mental health, becoming the MHSA Innovation professional at Tri-City Mental Health in 2019. Tonica then joined Riverside University Health System in 2017, where they held various positions such as Innovation Planner, Mental Health Services Program Manager - Innovation and Cultural Competency, and Behavioral Health Clinics Administrator.
Currently, Tonica serves as the Chief of Peer Services at the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, a role they started in 2023. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated a passion for mental health programming, innovation, and community service.
Tonica Robinson holds a Doctor of Behavioral Health (DBH) degree in Integration Management from Arizona State University and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in Health Care Compliance from the University of Southern California. Additionally, they have obtained certifications in Business Marketing from Cornell University, Certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist from the California Mental Health Services Authority, and Government Contracts from Riverside City College.

The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH) is the largest county mental health department in the country. LACDMH directly operates 75 program sites and more than 100 co-located sites. Additionally, LACDMH contracts with approximately 1,000 providers, including non-governmental agencies and individual practitioners who provide a spectrum of mental health services to people of all ages to support hope, wellbeing and recovery.
