Nick Owchar

Nick Owchar is an accomplished editorial director at Pitzer College since September 2022, and a contributing writer for both Kirkus Reviews and the Los Angeles Review of Books since April 2018 and April 2015, respectively. Previous roles include director of communications at Claremont Graduate University from July 2016 to September 2022, where strategic partnerships were formed to enhance internal and external communications, and director of development communications and content production at Claremont McKenna College from October 2012 to June 2016. Owchar's extensive editorial experience also includes serving as deputy editor for the Books section of the Los Angeles Times for over 16 years, alongside roles as a writing instructor at Citrus College and a general assignment reporter at the Whittier Daily News. Owchar holds a Master of Arts in English and American Literature from Boston University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Literature from Claremont McKenna College, and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in English at Claremont Graduate University.
