Walter Herring

Walter Herring has over 30 years of experience in risk management and insurance. Walter was the Head of Risk at Lothian Buses, where they developed and integrated a road risk strategy and managed health, safety, insurance, claims, and business continuity. Prior to that, they worked at Arriva as the Regional Risk and Safety Manager, overseeing operational risk and health and safety for a major bus company in the North East. Walter led the company to consecutive years of safety improvement and received various external awards for their achievements. Walter also worked at Newcastle City Council as the Principal Insurance Officer, managing a team of claims handlers and auditing external insurers, claims handlers, and solicitors. Walter started their career at Co-operative Insurance Companies as an Insurance Claims Investigator.
