Rob Vucic

Chief Technology Officer at LotLinx

Rob Vucic is currently the Chief Technology Officer at LotLinx. Prior to this, they were with Chug. Before that, they were with TRUSTe as a Systems Architect from February 2009 to March 2010. Rob was responsible for designing and developing scalable privacy seal hosting system for Enterprise clients, to support millions of privacy seal views per day. Rob also designed and developed TRUSTe's first Customer Enterprise Portal. In addition, they designed Unified Data Layer for consolidating access to 3 legacy data systems in postgreSQL, mysql, and MS sql. Rob also did maintenance of Haute Secure system from acquisition.

Prior to TRUSTe, Rob co-founded Haute Secure in October 2006 and served as its Systems Architect until March 2009. During their time there, they designed and developed a scalable internet scanning system dedicated to finding websites that host malicious content using VMWare (Vix API), C#, ASP.NET, MS SQL technologies. This system was scanning ~3 million URLs per day. Rob also designed and developed a scalable secure Web API system for communication of the Haute Secure clients to the Haute Secure servers using Amazon scalable technologies EC2 and S3. These technologies allow the system to scale up or down depending on the number of clients installed and any spikes in activity that might occur. Additionally, they created a standalone “Replay” system that processes forensic level event files from the internet scanning systems to send and receive the exact network data collected from the live internet facing infection, and recreate the infection in a secure non-internet facing environment. This allows the system to identify the chain of URL redirection that occurred leading to the infection; thereby identifying the page hosting the browser exploit and the payload URL. Furthermore, they created a Malicious URL Processing system that processes a known malicious URL, collects and extracts vital information about the URL (i.e. ASN/DNS/WHOIS info, tokenized URL components, etc.) and uses that info to identify similar URLs/Sites that might be malicious. Lastly, they created an URL submission and priority queuing system for identifying high probability malicious URLs and prioritizing the queue based on the probability that an URL is malicious. In terms of database design and implementation, they designed and implemented Microsoft SQL database schema for storing and processing hundreds of millions of URLs and associated scan data. The system grew to over a TB in size. Haute Secure was successfully acquired by TRUSTE in February 2009.
