Head Start Specialist & Management Systems at Loudoun County Public Schools

Emily Hanlin is the current Head Start Specialist & Management Systems at Loudoun County Public Schools. Prior to their current position, they served as the School Nutrition Director at Pickens County School District from June 2011 to June 2014. In this role, they were responsible for effective operation of the SNS program that met students’ needs while maintaining a fund balance. Emily also created procedure manuals and completed annual kitchen reviews to ensure compliance to all local, State and Federal laws, regulations and policies. Additionally, Emily established an annual SNS budget and assured schools met measurable financial objectives and benchmarks. Emily expanded marketing and public relations through implementation and maintenance of social media program. GEC buying group Area Chair and Large Equipment Bid Chair.

Previously, Emily served as the Area Supervisor, Food and Nutrition Services at Cobb County School District from July 2007 to June 2011. In this role, they oversaw food and nutrition services for the district. Prior to their time at Cobb County School District, Emily was the Project Manager, Medical and Health Management at The Home Depot from December 2003 to July 2007. In this role, they managed projects related to medical and health management.

Emily began their career as a Nutrition & Wellness Consultant at The Coca-Cola Company from June 2001 to December 2003. In this role, they provided nutrition and wellness consultation to clients. Emily then transitioned to their role as a Clinical Dietitian at WellStar Health System from October 1997 to December 2003. In this role

Emily Hanlin's educational career includes completing a BSFCS in Dietetics from The University of Georgia, an MBA in Business from Kennesaw State University - Michael J. Coles College of Business, and an RD Internship from GA DHR - Office of Nutrition. Emily is also certified as a School Nutrition Specialist (SNS) from the School Nutrition Association, a Georgia School Nutrition Director (S-5) from the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, and a Licensed Dietitian from Georgia. Additionally, they are certified as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and as a ServSafe Certified Food Safety Manager from the National Restaurant Association.

Emily Hanlin reports to Alexis Duffin, Head Start/STEP Supervisor. They are on a team with Daniel Savage - Head Start Mental Health Coordinator, Mandana Mortazavi - Head Start Project Assistant, and Mieya Thweatt - Head Start Family & Community Partnerships Assistant.
