Don Pierson

Secretary of Louisiana Economic Development at Louisiana Economic Development

Don Pierson, CEcD, currently serves as an Advisory Specialist at Pierson Delamain & Associates since January 2024. Pierson has held the position of Secretary for Louisiana Economic Development since January 2016, after being appointed by Governor John Bel Edwards, where responsibilities include overseeing domestic and international economic development programs as well as job retention and creation initiatives for the state. Previously, Pierson was the Senior Director of Business Development at Louisiana Economic Development, starting in 2005 under Governor Kathleen Blanco. From April 1988 to December 2004, Pierson served as the Executive Director of the Greater Bossier Economic Development Foundation, managing the Bossier Chamber of Commerce. Educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point and training at the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma.
