Shalaunda Brown is a therapist/teacher at Louisiana Key Academy since August 2022. Prior to this, Shalaunda worked as a teacher at Regina Coeli Child Development Center - Head Start from August 2012 to July 2022. Shalaunda also has experience as a teacher at Englishtown from November 2014 to September 2017 and at Open Arms Child Development Center from August 2011 to May 2012. In addition, Shalaunda served as a Legislative Assistant at the North Carolina General Assembly in June 2008 and as a Medical Records Technician at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from June 2003 to December 2007. Shalaunda holds a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling/Counselor from Bradley University and a combination of degrees in Public Administration, Psychology and Political Science, Human Resource Management from North Carolina Central University.

LKA serves the 1 in 5 children with Dyslexia in Baton Rouge and the surrounding areas. Our teachers are trained to teach students with dyslexia to read and write as fluently and as close to grade level as possible. LKA teaches students math reasoning and provides hands on experiences in Science, Social Studies, Art, Drama, Engineering, and Physical Education. LKA makes this a priority through a commitment to teacher development in the science of dyslexia and a commitment to developing a loving community for students, parents, and staff.
