Emma Friedlander-Collins has a diverse range of work experience. Emma has worked as a Lecturer at the University of Brighton since 2018, specializing in social media marketing and exploring the use of online communities for sustainable change. Emma has also worked as a Visiting Lecturer at Bath Spa University and Condé Nast since 2019.
Prior to their teaching roles, Emma worked in various positions at Steel&Stitch starting in 2014. Emma was responsible for crafts and social media, online media, and served as a freelance designer, author, and writer. Emma worked with yarn companies, organizations, and magazines, and authored three books published by CICO.
Emma has also been a Guest Speaker at Kirsty Allsop's The Handmade Fair in 2018, a Content Creator at LoveCrafts since 2018, and a VL Fashion Communication at the University of Brighton from February to April 2018.
Earlier in their career, Emma worked as a Public Realm Officer at Brighton & Hove City Council from 2008 to 2014 and as an Assistant Curator at Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft from 2004 to 2006.
Emma Friedlander-Collins has a diverse education history. In 1999 to 2002, they attended the University of Brighton, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA Hons) in Cultural & Historical Studies. Following this, in 2002 to 2003, they pursued a Post Graduate Certificate in Arts & Cultural Heritage Management from the same university. In 2017 to 2018, they enrolled in Kingston University and completed a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Sustainable Design. Currently, Emma is pursuing a Doctor of Arts degree in Sustainable Fashion and Craft from the University of Brighton, starting from 2021 onwards.
