Jay Freer

Director, Fine Arts at Lovett

Jay Freer has been involved in the arts for most of their life. Jay started out as an acting teacher during an intensive summer school program at the North Carolina School of the Arts. After that, they worked as a professional theatre actor for a while before moving on to teach acting at the South Carolina Governor's School of the Arts Summer Program. In 1985, they founded the Actor's Theatre of Atlanta, where they served as the lead development programs director and producing artistic director until 2007. Jay then became the assistant director at The North Carolina Shakespeare Festival. In their current position as Director of Fine Arts at Lovett, Jay Freer continues to promote and support the arts.

Jay Freer's educational career includes acting at HB Studios in New York City, a BFA in Theatre Performance from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, and studying at The Lovett School.
