Kent Anderson

With a strong background in litigation involving fraud, technology, and cybersecurity issues from his tenure as Deputy Attorney General at the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, Kent now represents private and public companies in a wide range of complex commercial disputes, in addition to organizations and individuals facing government investigations.

Kent is experienced in the litigation and appeals of high-stakes matters with a focus on consumer class actions, securities fraud, and disputes involving data transfer and privacy, trade secrets/intellectual property, and shareholder issues. He has litigated a variety of complex cases spanning multiple jurisdictions and diverse sectors such as the technology, finance, and health care industries.

Kent also defends parties in regulatory actions under state and federal law. His regulatory experience includes investigations and litigations involving major financial institutions, pharmacy benefit managers, pharmaceutical companies, health care providers, health insurance companies, and other organizations. This experience also encompasses alleged violations of statutes such as the False Claims Act, New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act, Identity Theft Prevention Act, HIPAA/HITECH, and COPPA. Kent serves as outside counsel to government entities, as well.

Prior to going into private practice, Kent investigated and prosecuted government contractor fraud, health care fraud, and data privacy/cybersecurity consumer fraud matters at the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, where he served as lead and co-counsel in federal/state, multistate, and New Jersey-initiated investigations. In 2017, he received the Attorney General’s Award for Outstanding Contribution by a New Employee.

Kent clerked for the Hon. Barry P. Sarkisian, J.S.C., in the New Jersey Superior Court, Civil Division. He has addressed professional audiences on the legal and regulatory impact of data breaches in addition to publishing articles on trade secret law.
