Alexander Sommer has a diverse work experience spanning different industries and roles. Alexander is currently the Director of Data at LoyaltyLion, a position they started in May 2023. Prior to that, they worked at Stuart as an Engineering Manager from March 2021 to May 2023, focusing on building and scaling data-warehouses, improving data quality, and developing a team of Data Engineers.

From December 2019 to March 2021, Alexander worked at PwC UK as a Manager - Data Analytics & Data Engineering, where they focused on business intelligence, data management, and data assurance. Before that, they held the role of Senior Associate - Business Intelligence & Data Analytics. In these roles, they inspected, transformed, and modeled clients' data to support decision-making, developed innovative solutions, and implemented governance strategies.

Alexander Sommer completed their education at various institutions. From 2006 to 2011, they attended C.S. Lewis Bilingual High School, where they obtained their Leaving Certificate with a focus on Economics, English, and Spanish. In 2011, they enrolled at Heriot-Watt University, where they pursued a degree in IBML with Spanish, specializing in International Business Management and languages. Alexander completed their studies in 2015. During their time at Heriot-Watt University, Alexander also studied abroad at Universidad Pontificia Comillas in 2013 and 2014, focusing on Business Administration and Management.

In terms of additional certifications, Alexander obtained the SAT certification from Collegeboard in June 2011. In the following years, they pursued various certifications in the field of technology and data management. In 2017, they obtained the Big Data Foundations - Level 1 certification from IBM, followed by the Hadoop Foundations - Level 1 certification from the same institution in 2017. In 2018, they obtained the CP100A: Google Cloud Platform Fundamentals and the Google Cloud Platform Big Data & Machine Learning Fundamentals (CPB100) certifications from ROI Training. Alexander also received the Docker Sales Professional certification from Docker, Inc in 2018. Their latest certification is the Oracle Cloud Platform Enterprise Analytics 2018 Certified Associate, which they obtained from Oracle in July 2019.
