Runay Valentine DNP MHA RN CEN NEA-BC has a diverse range of work experience in the healthcare field. Runay is currently serving as a Project Leader/Nurse Leader Former Interim Executive Director of Transplant Programs & Dialysis at Loyola Medicine since March 2020. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Consultant at Philips Healthcare Transformation Service from April 2015 to March 2020, where they implemented strategies to enhance operational and clinical performance, improve the patient experience, and optimize emergency department and hospital throughput.
Before joining Philips, Runay worked as a Service Line Director for Emergency Services at Rush University Medical Center from September 2012 to May 2015. Runay developed and implemented an ED patient navigation/care coordination model to facilitate care transitions and participated in a team designated for handling suspected Ebola cases.
Earlier in their career, they held the position of Director of Emergency and Nursing Support Services at Rockford Memorial Hospital from April 2008 to September 2012. Runay was responsible for overseeing multiple departments, including the emergency department, aeromedical transport service, trauma center, and capacity management.
Runay has also served as an Interim Director at B.E. Smith, Director of Emergency Services at HCA Oak Hill Hospital, Clinical Operations Director at Duke University Health System-Durham Regional Hospital, and Director of Emergency Center at Memorial Hospital (Catholic Health Initiative).
Runay started their career as an ED Staff Nurse and Charge Nurse at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.
Throughout their career, Runay has accumulated a wealth of experience in various clinical settings, ranging from tertiary care/academic centers to small community healthcare facilities. Runay has also worked in both union and non-union environments.
Runay Valentine obtained a Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) with a focus on System Leadership from RUSH University between 2013 and 2015. Prior to that, they completed a Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) from the University of Phoenix in 2008. Runay Valentine also holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with a major in Nursing and a minor in Business Administration from DePaul University, which they earned between 1980 and 1984. Runay attended Immaculata High School and St. Bonaventure Grammar School, but no degrees or fields of study were specified for these institutions. Additionally, they have obtained the Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) certification from the Accreditation Board for Specialty Nursing (ABSNC) in September 2011 and the Nurse Executive Advanced (NEA-BC) certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in August 2011.
