Joyce Marie Jackson currently serves as the Chair and James J. Parsons Endowed Professor in the LSU Department of Geography & Anthropology at Louisiana State University since May 2021. Prior to this role, Joyce Marie Jackson was the Director of the African & African American Studies Program at Louisiana State University from August 2010 to May 2016. Joyce Marie Jackson obtained a Ph.D. in Folklore-Ethnomusicology from Indiana University, Bloomington, and holds both a Bachelor of Music and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Louisiana State University.
