Michael E. Mamp

Michael E. Mamp currently serves as the Director and Curator of the LSU Textile & Costume Museum at Louisiana State University since August 2022, while also holding the position of Associate Professor in the Department of Textiles, Apparel Design, & Merchandising. Mamp has curated notable exhibitions such as "Woven Louisiana History" and "Coming Home: Geoffrey Beene," and teaches various undergraduate courses including History of Fashion and Queer Fashion. Previously, Mamp was a Professor at Central Michigan University, where responsibilities included founding the Fashion Online Programs and mentoring in Women & Gender Studies. Mamp's academic background features a PhD in Fashion/Textile History from Iowa State University and extensive experience across various educational institutions and retail environments. Research interests encompass 20th-century dress and textile history, queer fashion, and design technology.
