Thomas de Baets

Thomas De Baets is an accomplished music education professional with extensive experience in academia and leadership. Currently serving as Team Coordinator and Professor of Music Education at LUCA School of Arts since September 2012 and as Associate Professor at KU Leuven since 2014, Thomas has held various significant roles, including Programme Director for LUCA Music & Drama and Head of Music. With contributions to prominent organizations such as Routledge Taylor & Francis Group as Co-Editor-in-Chief for Music Education Research and membership on editorial boards for international journals, Thomas promotes research in music education. Additional roles include advisory positions for accreditation panels, board membership at Orpheus Institute, and leadership in the European Association for Music in Schools. Holding a PhD in Music Education from KU Leuven and multiple degrees in music, Thomas remains a pivotal figure in advancing music education initiatives.
