Julian Hains has a diverse work experience history. Julian started their career as the Group Financial Accountant at Guoman & Thistle hotels in 2007, where they were responsible for compiling quarterly returns and advising on appropriate accounting policy. Julian also served as the Chair of Pension Fund Trustees during their time there. In 2013, they moved on to glh Hotels, where they held the role of Head of Technical Accounting. In this position, they were the primary finance contact for the parent company and was responsible for all financial and management accounts. Julian provided advice on accounting policy choices related to government financial legislation, IFRS announcements, and pension fund changes.

In 2014, Julian established their own company, Hains Consulting Ltd, where they worked as the owner until 2015. Julian then joined Optegra Eye Health Care as the Group Management Accountant for a year before transitioning to a self-employed role. In 2017, they took on the role of Interim Finance Director at Otima Health at 19 Harley Street, where they focused on fundraising and day-to-day financial management. Julian managed relationships with investors, CVA supervisors, and lease financiers.

Starting in 2019, Julian held two positions simultaneously. Julian became the Chief Financial Officer at Smarter Cardiovascular Outcomes by Research and Education Limited, and also served as a Mentor at SEIDs Social Enterprise Ideas Development. Most recently, in 2021, they joined Lucida Medical Ltd as the Head of Finance.

In 2016, Julian took a break from their professional career to relax.

Julian Hains attended the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants from 1996 to 2000, where they pursued a degree in Management Accountancy and obtained the ACMA qualification. Prior to that, from 1988 to 1991, they studied at the University of Greenwich, where they earned a degree in Political Economy with a classification of 2:ii.
