Kevin Cedrone

Co-founder, Head of R&D at Lumafield

Kevin Cedrone has a diverse work experience, starting from their role as a Manufacturing Engineering Assistant at RIM in 2006, where they focused on process design and equipment improvement. In 2007, they worked as a Site Engineering Assistant at Electricite de France and later as a Manufacturing Engineering Assistant at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada.

After that, Kevin joined MIT in 2008 as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Sloan Automotive Laboratory, where they conducted doctoral research on engine emissions and efficiency. In 2013, they became a Postdoctoral Research Associate, leading a team and conducting experimental research while also completing techno-economic analysis.

In 2014, Kevin joined Formlabs as an R&D Engineer, where they developed a team and worked on improving 3D printing processes. Kevin then transitioned to being an Independent Consulting Research Scientist, assisting clients with technical problem-solving in various fields, such as medical devices and 3D printers.

In 2018, Kevin joined Digital Alloys as a Research Scientist, where they used their expertise in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics to optimize metal printing processes. Kevin also utilized Python and MATLAB for empirical data mining and design of experiments.

Kevin's entrepreneurial journey began in 2015 when they co-founded EB Innovations LLC. Kevin subsequently became a Co-founder and CEO at Lumafield in 2019, focusing on R&D and creating products for engineers to access data and insights.

Furthermore, Kevin has also served as a Lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology since 2017, teaching a course on measurement and instrumentation for undergraduate mechanical engineers.

Kevin Cedrone attended Turner Fenton, where the start and end years are not available. After finishing high school, they pursued a Bachelor of Applied Science in Honours Mechanical Engineering at the University of Waterloo, from 2003 to 2008. Kevin then went on to earn an SM degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 2008 to 2010. Finally, they completed a PhD in Mechanical Engineering also at MIT, from 2010 to 2013.
