Glenn Cheney has a strong background in the telecommunications industry, with extensive experience in research, design, and development. Glenn worked as the Director of Transceiver Research and Development at Lumentum, leading a team in the development of high-speed interconnect modules and DWDM solutions for line-side optical transport. Prior to that, they were the Hardware Design Manager at Optelian, where they led the development of various hardware components for DWDM systems, including optical modules, mechanical designs, and FPGA designs. Glenn also played a key role in developing state-of-the-art systems chassis in different formats. Glenn began their career at Nortel as an Engineering Manager and remained with the company for over 16 years.

Glenn Cheney obtained their Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Systems Design Engineering) from the University of Waterloo in the period between 1981 and 1986. Later, from 1991 to 1993, they pursued a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in high-speed electronics, fiber optics, and optical amplifiers at Carleton University.
