Martha Butler

Martha Butler is an experienced executive with over 30 years of comprehensive knowledge in healthcare on both the provider and the payer side. Martha understands the importance of helping organizations transition from volume- to value-based care. For the past 10 years, her career has been primarily focused on Medicare Advantage (MA) and the establishment of an operational organization that can implement MA plans for other partners and provide ongoing support of various population health services.

Martha leads the operations of Essence Healthcare. The Essence plan is built on a proven playbook for achieving improved clinical outcomes at reduced costs that is scalable and can benefit health organizations nationwide regardless of size or geography. Martha is well versed in the unique features of MA, specifically the Stars quality bonus program and risk adjustment. Before joining Lumeris and Essence, Martha was executive director for Esse Health and director of IT business systems for Coventry Health Care.
