Sampo Lappalainen

Sampo Lappalainen is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in technology and entrepreneurship. As the CEO and Co-Founder of LumiDB since October 2023, Sampo focuses on tackling challenges related to complex datasets in industries like construction and robotics. Previously, Sampo served as Interim COO at Root Signals, where efforts were made to establish operations in the U.S. During a tenure at Amazon Robotics, Sampo led mapping operations for autonomous robots, enhancing data processing and 3D reconstruction. As Co-founder and COO of Umbra from April 2008 to January 2021, Sampo contributed to the company's growth and successful exit. Earlier roles include Software Systems Engineer at NVIDIA, where contributions were made to the OpenVG standard, and Senior Software Engineer at Hybrid Graphics, leading the implementation of vector graphics on mobile systems. Sampo holds an MSc in Computer Science and Entrepreneurship from Teknillinen korkeakoulu-Tekniska högskolan and an MSc in Computer Science from Universidad Rey Juan Carlos.
