Dr. Sarma Velamuri has a long history of experience in the medical field. From 2012 to 2014, they served as Medical Director at Kindred Healthcare, where they were also a member of the Utilization Review and Ethics Committees. In 2012, they began working at CHI St. Luke's Health - Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center as a Hospitalist and a member of the Sepsis process improvement committee. In 2016, they became a Medication/Patient Safety Committee member, Attending Physician, and Sepsis Champion at HCA Houston Healthcare. In 2018, they became an Advisor and TMCx6 Digital Health Accelerator at TMC Innovation. Finally, in 2022 they became a Class 8 Digital Health Accelerator at The Cedars-Sinai Accelerator. In addition, Dr. Velamuri is the CEO/co-founder of Luminare, where they have invented and designed their flagship products, Sagitta - a sepsis process improvement software for hospitals.

Sarma Velamuri, M.D. obtained their Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from St.Petersburg I.P.Pavlov State Medical University between 2001 and 2007. Sarma then completed a residency program in Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine from 2009 to 2012. In July 2012, they were certified by the ABIM Foundation for the American Board of Internal Medicine.
