Software Engineer at Luminary Cloud

David Tagatac has worked in a variety of roles in the software engineering industry since 2006. David began their career as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of California, San Diego, where they fabricated and characterized thin films of Vanadium Oxide. In 2009, they became a Program Analyst at DrFirst, where they migrated the company's source code and build systems from Visual Source Safe to Subversion. From 2010 to 2012, they were a Software Engineer at General Dynamics Information Technology, where they had a significant role in the design and implementation of a system to receive, ingest, and store over four terabytes of satellite data per day. In 2014, they took on the role of Lecturer at Columbia University School of Continuing Education, where they designed and taught the Summer Programs for High School Students course "Introduction to Programming in C". From 2016 to 2021, they were a Software Engineer II at Uber, where they worked on microservice deployment velocity and automated safe data store migrations. Most recently, they have been a Senior Software Engineer at Splunk since 2021, where they have led and participated in a team of 3 senior engineers in the backend development for Real User Monitoring on mobile clients, implemented several significant backend features, and designed and led an evaluation of vendors for providing Cassandra-as-a-service to the Observability org. David is currently employed at Luminary Cloud as a Software Engineer since 2022.

David Tagatac received their Bachelor of Science - BS in Applied & Engineering Physics from Cornell University in 2006. David then went on to receive their Master of Science - MS in Materials Science and Engineering from UC San Diego in 2007. Finally, they earned their Master of Science - MS in Computer Science from Columbia University in 2015.
