Ioannis (John) Kymissis has a long and varied work experience. Ioannis (John) began their career in 1998 as a Graduate Student and Postdoctoral Associate at MIT. In 2005, they became a Senior Engineer/consultant at QD Vision, Inc. In 2006, they became the Kenneth Brayer Professor of Electrical Engineering at Columbia University. In 2011, they became Co-founder and CTO of Chromation. In 2012, they were Co-founder and Scientific Advisor at Radiator Labs, Member of the Technical Advisory Board at Udacomm, and Editor in Chief at the Society for Information Display. In 2013, they became Co-founder and acting CEO of Lumiode, Inc. Finally, in 2020, they became Co-founder and scientific advisor at Lelantos.

Ioannis (John) Kymissis attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1994 to 2003, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (SB), a Master of Engineering (M.Eng), and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering.
