James Ahn

James Ahn (“Jimmy”) is a Managing Director and Head of Asia at Clayton, Dubilier & Rice (“CD&R”), a New York-based global private equity firm founded in 1978. Jimmy is also a Partner and member of the Investment Committee of Principle Capital, a middle market focused growth and buyout firm in China. Since joining CD&R in 2011, Jimmy has been responsible for building CD&R’s presence in Asia, building strategic partnerships with local investment teams such as Principle Capital in China and Kedaara Capital Advisors in India, and deepening CD&R’s capital relationships in the Asia-Pacific region. Before joining CD&R in 2011, Jimmy was a Partner in McKinsey & Company’s Hong Kong office, where he was the Head of Asia-Pacific M&A practice. He was also a co-founder of the Asia-Pacific Private Equity Practice and was the one of the most active partners in Asia serving private equity firms on due diligence, business plan development, and strategy engagements.

Jimmy received a JD from Harvard Law School and an MS in Industrial Engineering and AB in Economics (with Distinction) from Stanford University. At Stanford, he was awarded the President’s Award for Academic Excellence, was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Tau Beta Pi, and was the Chairman of the Nominations Committee for the University. Jimmy is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of Dulwich College Seoul.
